Meghna Das is a Bangalore-based Odissi dancer with nearly 3 decades of years of training behind her. She began her training under her mother and guru, Dr. Sahana Das, before joining the Nrityagram classes as a teenager. She went on to train at the Nrityantar Academy of Performing Arts as a senior ensemble and faculty member under the direction of Smt. Madhulita Mohapatra. Today, she is the Assistant Director of the Nrityantar Academy of Performing Arts, a young teacher and choreographer, and continues her training under the mentorship of Guru Smt. Bijayini Satpathy.
After her professional debut in 2012, she went on to perform across India and overseas, collaborating with artists of different styles and disciplines from all over the world. She has written and directed 3 full length productions – Anamika, Neelachal, and Ayam – that have been staged across India to full houses and critical acclaim.
A Visharad in Odissi from Pracheen Kala Kendra, a graded Doordarshan artiste, a regular performer for the ICCR, and the recipient of the National Chinta-O-Chetana Baishaki Award from the Government of Orissa, Meghna is also a regular guest lecturer at Mount Carmel College Bangalore where she introduces students to Indian Classical Dance under the Perspectives in Indian Art paper for Communications students. She teaches regular workshops in Odissi and conducts classes in her studio in Bangalore.
Passionate about the arts in India and also armed with a decade of experience in Marketing and Communications, Meghna hopes that through her work will be a part of a changing environment in which the classical and folk arts are produced, performed, and watched in India.
